Ofcoms help rural areas get better reception

Ofcom recently passed a new regulation which allows mobile network to use their current 2G spectrum to upgrade to the 3G network. It benefits operators like Vodafone and O2 who can upgrade to 3G using their 900 MHz 2G spectrums but three is not very happy with this decision and wants Ofcom to change the decision and help network compete fairly. But the decision will definitely help people in the rural areas get more coverage and a better network capacity. This will also highly improve the mobile broadband coverage all over UK and deliver higher broadband speeds.

Previously the operators were allowed to use only a minimum percentage of their spectrum for their 3G services but now Ofcom gives them complete freedom to use their 2G spectrum. This will help utilize the same spectrum which was just utilized to make calls and texts to now surf the internet, play games, watch videos and browse through photos through your social media apps.
The regulation was becoming essential as the need for high speed internet has been increasing from consumers. People need high speed internet to access the numerous videos being posted on the Internet.

Internet usage has highly increased also increasing mobile internet access. But with high usage there was also a need for networks to upgrade their networks and this regulation will help networks make optimum utilization of their spectrum. It’s overall a good decision in all for the consumers and the networks which gives them the freedom to benefit from their 2G spectrum.
